Iowa Firefighters Memorial

The 32nd annual Iowa Firefighters Memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 13, 2027, at 10:30 a.m. at the Memorial in Coralville. The annual candlelight service will be on Saturday night, June 12th at 9 p.m. at the Memorial.

The address for the site is: 1 Russell Slade Blvd. (Exit 242 off of I-80). We have Memorial T shirts, sweatshirts, patches, and koozies for sale.

The next cutoff date for adding names to the walls is May 10, 2027. PLEASE be sure to mail the application form to us before the deadline so it arrives before May 10th. PLEASE type or print very clearly the person’s name so we can read it and get it correctly spelled on the walls. (Check with the family about the correct spelling if you are in question.)

Send forms to: Marv Trimble, Co-Chair, Iowa Firefighters Memorial, PO Box 74, Garrison, IA 52229.

The criteria for getting a name on the wall (outside of line of duty) is the firefighter must have spent a minimum of 10 years on an Iowa fire department or died while an active firefighter. Currently the cost to have a name added to the wall is $100.00 and must be paid by the family or the fire department. A form for placing a departed firefighter’s name on the Memorial wall can be found in the Iowa Firefighter newspaper each month, or you can go to the Memorial website: www.iowafirememorial.org. The name will be engraved on the wall just the way it is written on the form. Line of Duty Deaths are paid for by the Memorial. They also need a completed form for the LODD’s. Also please include a short biography of the person so the information can be on the Memorial website.

Send Memorial Donations to: Mike Reuman. Co-Chair, PO Box 7, Traer, IA 50675. Contributions since the last newsletter include: Ellison – Cedar Rapids (In Honor of Richard Prilipp).

Contributions to the Memorial wall expansion: Ionia Fire Department.
