148th IFA Convention Drill Results

The 148th Iowa Firefighters Association Convention featured 10 drills, with firefighters competing in a variety of team and individual events. IFA President Kent Brix presented trophies to the top finishers throughout the competition.

In Drill #1, the Thief, four firefighter team, IFA President Kent Brix presented the first-place trophy to Chariton 2 team members Montee Brown, Brandt Smith, Gary Shutt and Tim Graves.

Drill #1 — The Thief

The four-firefighter team competition was won by Chariton 2, with Montee Brown, Brandt Smith, Gary Shutt and Tim Graves. Eldora 1 finished second with Jake Travis, Lyndon Malone, Blaire Donaldson and Brandon Jones. Radcliffe 1 took third with Chuck Raska, Dan Reisetter, Auston Reisetter and Dan Nepple, while Russell 1 finished fourth with Jim Neer, Chris Feehan, Levi Gwinn and Zach Steinhausen.

In Drill #3, Advance a Leader Line, three firefighter team, IFA President Kent Brix presented the first-place trophy to Chariton 2 team members Devon Brown, Monte Brown and Brendon Woods.

In the three-firefighter team competition, Chariton 2 took first with Devon Brown, Monte Brown and Brendon Woods. Eldora 2 finished second with Aaron Clemons, Jake Travis and Blaire Donaldson. Russell 2 placed third with Trevor Steinhausen, Levi Gwinn and Alec Reynolds, followed by Radcliffe 1 in fourth with Chuck Raska, Dan Reisetter and Dan Nepple.

In Drill #4, the Chief’s Race, IFA President Kent Brix (right) presented the trophies to (l to r): John Ziebell, Hubbard, fourth place (8.36 seconds); Aaron Betts, Albion, third place (8.10 seconds); Aaron Clemons, Eldora, second place (7.64 seconds); and Scott Henson, Martensdale, first place (7.34 seconds).

Scott Henson of Martensdale took first place with a time of 7.34 seconds. Aaron Clemons of Eldora finished second at 7.64 seconds, followed by Aaron Betts of Albion in third at 8.10 seconds. John Ziebell of Hubbard placed fourth with a time of 8.36 seconds.

Gary Shutt of Chariton took first place, followed by Justin Delay of Milo in second, Cody Smith of Chariton in third and Zach Steinhausen of Russell in fourth.

In Drill #6, Coupling Drill, two firefighter team, IFA President Kent Brix presented the first-place trophy to Russell 2 team members Levi Gwinn and Caden Steinhausen who won in a time of 6.86 seconds, which tied the state record.

The two-firefighter team competition was won by Russell 2, with Levi Gwinn and Caden Steinhausen finishing in 6.86 seconds, tying the state record. Russell 1, with Jeff Neer and Trevor Steinhausen, finished second. Chariton 3, with Brandt Smith and Matt Reichmann, placed third, while Chariton 2, with Andy McNeish and Gary Shutt, finished fourth.

The one-firefighter competition saw Jeff Neer of Russell take first place. Caden Steinhausen of Russell finished second, followed by Dan Nepple of Radcliffe in third and Levi Gwinn of Russell in fourth.

In Drill #8, Replacing a Section of Hose, four firefighter team, IFA President Kent Brix presented the first-place trophy to Russell 2 team members Trevor Steinhausen, Taylor Feehan, Caden Steinhausen and Jeffery Alexander.

Russell 2 took first place with Trevor Steinhausen, Taylor Feehan, Caden Steinhausen and Jeffery Alexander. Radcliffe 1 finished second with Chuck Raska, Dan Nepple, Charlie Runge and Auston Reisetter. Milo 1 placed third with John Parker, Cameron Minton, Cody Kowt and Dustin Wadle. Russell 1 finished fourth with Levi Abbas, Chris Feehan, Levi Gwinn and Zach Steinhausen.

In Drill #9, Extending a Hydrant Line, three firefighter team, IFA President Kent Brix presented the first-place trophy to Russell 1 team members Levi Abbas, Levi Gwinn and Caden Steinhausen.

Russell 1 took first place with Levi Abbas, Levi Gwinn and Caden Steinhausen. Russell 2, with Jim Neer, Jeff Neer and Cody Carroll, finished second. Osage 2 placed third with Jon Wright, Jobe Goodale and Alex Chisholm, while Chariton 3 finished fourth with Monte Brown, Matt Riechmann and Gary Shutt.

In Drill #10, Water Application Drill, IFA President Kent Brix presented the first-place trophy to Riverdale 1 team members Randy Bowers, Bruce Bowers, Rick Puls and Brittanee Deeringer.

Riverdale 1 took first place with Randy Bowers, Bruce Bowers, Rick Puls and Brittanee Deeringer. Iowa Falls finished second with Mason Eisentrager, Noah Oelmann, Mc. Eisentrager and Jason Barrick. Oelwein 1 placed third with Matt Derifield, Denny Haar, Sean Emery and Paul Millhouse. Hubbard finished fourth with Haysen Boeke, Mitchell Paxton, Wes Stewart and Bob Wolf.
