Chris Bylund - Harlan Fire Department

Hello fellow Iowa firefighters,

 My name is Chris Bylund, I am a member of the Harlan Fire & Rescue Department I am announcing my intention to run for 5th Vice President for the Iowa Firefighter Association.

I have been a member of the Harlan Fire & Rescue Department for 6 years. Before moving to Harlan, I was a member of the Audubon Fire and Rescue Department for 10 plus years. I am currently the President of the Harlan Fire & Rescue Department and president of the Harlan Firefighters Association. I have certifications in Firefighter I and II with Hazmat endorsement and  Hazmat Tech.

My wonderful fiancé, Traci and our children, are great supporters of mine for everything I do in the Fire department and the Southwest Iowa Public Safety Chaplaincy. Traci is an EMT on the Harlan Fire & Rescue Department and son Alex is a member of the Audubon Fire and Rescue Department. Being a firefighter is in our family DNA as my father was a member for 35 years in Audubon.

My goal as 5th vice president will be to promote and recruit the next generation into the fire service. I will be working with Iowa state legislatures and senators to recognize the importance of cancer in volunteer and professional firefighters. I would work with legislators on promoting for Iowa to be pro fire and recognize the importance of sustaining a strong fire service.
